REPUTATION - Diplomacy and you.

Rep in game is an essential and integral part of the game. It determines how much items, repairs and flights will cost in cities controlled by that faction, and in some cases whether a faction will even talk to or be hostile with you.

Some things to remember with Factions and rep:

  • Most factions, other than your home factions (ie- Alliance or Horde), have a limited number of quests, then you are limited to daily or repeatable quests. In cases where you can turn-in repeatable quests until Honored, do that first, then the mainline quest lines. You will get farther in rep categories that way.
  • Most outer world factions start out as Neutral, Unfriendly or Hostile. The majority seem to lean toward Neutral.
  • You may have to 'unlock' the faction through interaction or quests before you can actually 'see' them or make active progress in reputation with them.
  • The lowest Rep category where a faction won't be actively aggressive towards you is Unfriendly.
  • Reputation Categories:
-Hated: Face it, they hate you, they're gonna try to kill you. Unless
you want to fight, go around.
-Hostile: They REALLY don't like you, and they'll attack you when
they see you.
-Unfriendly: They don't like you, trust you or want to trade with
you; but they're willing to let you go by without attacking you.
They're like the disgruntled old man...'I'm keepin' an eye on you!'
-Neutral: They don't care either way. They'll sell you their wares,
but it won't be cheap, and you might turn out to be a friend after
all, so there's no point in not doing a little business.
-Friendly: They like you. They may even know your name. Your
face is commonly known, so they arn't above giving you a little
discount on items and repairs. They might even
have something nice behind the counter that they don't offer
everyone else....
[5% discount]
-Honored: You're well known in their community. They know
you by name. They'll offer you special stuff they have in back
that's better than most the other stuff they offer the common
adventurer, and at a discount no less! The quartermaster may
even have a key to the local dungeon he can make for you.
[10% discount].
-Revered: Your deeds and name are well known. They have even
more items that you can get, they may even offer you a special pet
to show their gratitude.
[15% discount].
-Exalted: [999/1000 highest] Your name may be used in greetings
and they may even openly praise your deeds. The Quartermaster
offers you the best goods at the cheapest prices available. He may
even have a special mount for you, since you're so well known...
[20% discount].
